If you are a non-EEA (EU member states, Norway, Switzerland, Lichtenstein) student, you start your studies in September, and your country is under visa obligations, you have to apply for residence permit for the purpose of studies (residence permit visa (D-visa)). This application you need to do in your country at the Hungarian Consulate or at an authorized institution. The decision will be made within 15 days. So we recommend you to ask for an appointment from the Hungarian Consulate or from the authorized institution one month before your studies start. This visa allows you a single entry in Hungary and 30 days stay. Within these 30 days you have to apply for residence permit at the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing. If you are a student from EEA countries and you are planning to stay longer than 90 days in Hungary, you have to apply for a registration card at the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing. If you need help, don't hezitate to fill out our FORM.
